2009 World Series of Poker Main Event about to Begin

by admin on Jun.09, 2009, under Poker

The 2009 World Series of Poker has been underway for about a week now and about nine of the events have started already with a couple of them being complete already. With some of the tournaments already underway you can be sure that the main event is right around the corner and it’s set to start really soon.

The 2009 WSOP has had an excellent start and there have already been some history setting moments take place. One of the biggest moments at this year’s WSOP has been in the $1.5K Omaha Hi/Lo Event where Thang Luu defended his WSOP bracelet from last year which rarely happens in poker. The $40K NLHE Event which is one of the biggest events every year at the WSOP is also already completed and the winner of the event was Vitaly Lunkin.

The world’s best poker players are already in Vegas playing in some of the smaller events while they wait for the main event. There is no doubt that this year will feature one of the biggest playing fields again and I got a feeling that a young poker player will capture the bracelet again this year. Just like last year though, the final table won’t be played for months down the road so we won’t know who wins for awhile.

The main event for those of you who don’t know is the most anticipated poker event every single year and it has a buy-in of $10K. There are also plenty of other ways to win a seat into the tournament though, including playing in online satellite tournaments. Quite a few of the players at this year’s main event will have made it here because they played in online satellite events at the numerous online poker rooms who offer WSOP satellites.

If you’re going to miss the main event or you want to catch up on the events that have already been played at the 2009 World Series of Poker then make sure you check out this Poker Blog which offers daily WSOP news.
